Save-A-Friend is a community action group with a mission to help families in our community affected by drug addiction. There are many families in our community suffering in shame and silence. We provide not only a monthly support group, but also bring together resources to help prevent drug abuse. Save A Friend Live Your Life Free is our logo. Our tee-shirt campaign has been an affective tool to help the kids not using drugs to make a statement to their peers. We funded this through our generous business community and are continuing to raise funds to spread this to all the area schools and make this a County wide program. Rowan Center for Addiction Studies and Partnership for a Drug Free New Jersey provide our educational materials, which are available at each support group meeting. We will on occasion have speakers who deal with addiction come and educate and share their experiences. Masha'Allah there were so many incredible speakers at this event sharing stories about anything and everything. Some were happy, some were sad, all were amazing. Subhanallah, this program was one of the best events I've ever attended. FOR THOSE INTERESTED IN DOING DA'WAH: Kamal El Mekki did a series called how to give shahada in 10 minutes which is very helpful. The Sweat Therapy Sauna was designed specifically for group work. The design was influenced by the Finnish Sauna, the American Indian Sweat Lodge, and modern technology. Like a common sauna, it was built with conventional wood-framed construction with insulation between vertical studs, the interior lined with cedar walls and benches. It is heated with an electric heater. Like an American Indian sweat lodge, the Sweat Therapy Sauna allows people to sit in a circle to promote group cohesion. The heating element is placed in the center. It is windowless to control lighting to promote intimacy and introspection and contains a stereo system to make use of the therapeutic benefits of music. The dimensions of the Sweat Therapy Sauna are 10 x 10 x 7 and can accommodate about 12 people. The 15 KW electric heater is a stainless steel floor model purchased from Finlandia Sauna. Four recessed ceiling lights operate on a dimmer switch. The stereo is a waterproof marine audio system that includes an amplifier, MP3 connector, and four speakers purchased from Poly-Planar. A shower is installed on the outside of the right front wall. This project was a long time in the planning. The "Gangnam Style" Flash Mob that happened in the atrium on Saturday during Nan Desu Kan (NDK) 2012. I happened to be taking pictures near here when one of the cosplayers (and I wish I could remember who it was!) ran up and told me I should stick around for a bit. I was so excited and asked, "Are you guys doing a flash mob!?". Lo and behold the guy in the center comes running up with his speakers and I was in the right place at the right time! Unfortunately I was behind them, but at least I was near the speakers so the audio isn't terrible! It was exciting to witness - congrats to everyone who pulled it off! You were fantastic and I was cracking up the whole time!

Step 2: Take out the magnet and glue the paper cylinder on the center bottom of the paper plate. Step 3: Stick the magnet back in and take the magnet wire and start wrapping it around the cylinder. Step 4: Tape it when done. Step 5: Strip ends of wire. (light them on fire) Step 6: Take out the magnet and the first two strips of paper. Step 7: Fold all the business cards into a "W" and glue them on the plate in the shape of a triangle. Step 8: hot glue the magnet onto the piece of cardboard and place the plate on top. Press Release February 17, 2013 South Tucson - At approximately 2:30 pm this afternoon, Raúl Alcaráz Ochoa, a community organizer with the Southside Worker Center and Corazón de Tucson, placed himself under a Border Patrol (BP) vehicle to prevent officials from detaining and deporting Tucsonan Rene Meza Huertha. He was subsequently detained by BP officials. At approximately 1:30pm the Tucson Police Department (TPD) pulled over Meza Huertha, along with his expectant wife and six children. TPD, in direct contradiction of previous statements promising to be more "immigrant welcoming," called Border Patrol to take Mr. Huertha into custody. Mr. Alcaráz Ochoa, a long time advocate against massive deportations in our community and country, placed himself underneath the vehicle in which Mr. Huertha was detained. At the time of his detainment, there were at least six Border Patrol Agents and four TPD officers on the scene. Border Patrol officials proceeded to repeatedly pepper spray Mr. Alcaráz Ochoa, who suffers from asthma, before dragging him out, handcuffing him, and taking him into custody. Corazón de Tucson and the Southside Worker Center are calling for a protest and press conference tomorrow, Monday, February 18 at 4:00pm outside the Tucson Police Department at 270 S. Stone Ave. They are demanding the immediate release without charges, of both Raúl Alcaráz Ochoa and Rene Meza Huertha. Furthermore, they demand an end to all deportations and to stop the assault on families ...
