Stratocaster pickups comparison - American Standard vs Custom Shop 69 vs 57/62

Stratocaster pickups comparison - American Standard vs Custom Shop 69 vs 57/62 Tube. Duration : 12.43 Mins.

Here's a comparison of three popular strat pickup sets. A CP60s strat is used as a host. First is a set of pickups taken from a 90s American Standard Strat. The Custom Shop 69 pickups that follow are the ones that the guitar came with (signed by Abby!) and last is a set of aftermarket 57/62 pickups. The American Standard and the CS69 are reverse wound/reverse polarity (RW/RP, hum-cancelling at positions 2 and 4) while the aftermarket 57/62s are not. The mint pickguard was replaced with a tortoise one during the process. I did this comparison for two reasons: First, to compare the pickups with everything else staying exactly the same, and second, to help me find out why my guitar sounds so dull : ( Quick links: bridge / bridge+mid / mid / mid+neck / neck Std. .: 00:00 / 00:48 / 01:35 / 02:29 / 03:17 CS69: 04:05 / 04:54 / 05:41 / 06:30 / 07:15 57/62: 08:08 / 09:03 / 09:51 / 10:46 / 11:38 Equipment used: Pick: Dunlop Ultex Sharp 0.90 Strings: Ernie Ball Power Slinky (.011 -.048) (same set of five-days-old strings was used on all recordings) Guitar: Fender Classic Player 60s Stratocaster (all stock besides the pickups) Cable: Evidence 'The Melody', 2 meters long Amp: 1973 Fender Super Reverb, recapped and retubed (Tung Sol tubes) with original CTS Alnico speakers.
