A small study of foreign language learning in adults compared two methods. One is known as the explicit or classroom method. This is the kind of traditional classroom teaching where students are taught a lot of information about grammar rules. The other method is known as the implicit or immersion method. The idea here is to learn much the way children do when they learn a native language. That is, by being with native speakers and absorbing the language that surrounds them, generally without a lot of explanation. Teachers may combine these two methods into what Professor Michael Ullman calls immersion-style classroom teaching. But is that necessarily a better way to learn a language?Mr. Ullman was the senior investigator for the new study. He is a professor of neuroscience at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington. John Perry Barlow is a retired Wyoming rancher (and native), a former lyricist for the Grateful Dead, and the co-founder of the Electronic Frontier Foundation, a civil liberties organization which has been protecting the free flow of information on the Internet since 1990. He remains on the board of that organization. He has been writing about society in Cyberspace since 1988 and was first to apply that name to the global social space it presently describes. The first 3 minutes is just me playing on the SOLO channel of the Crate amp. Skip to 3:00 to hear the awesome Dr. Boogey. On the day I finished my Dr. Boogey, I felt like checking on the guitarcenter.com's list of used gear. Then I found this amp for 0 (that's a watt :3). I asked my parents if we could take a look at it, so we drove a 35 minute ride to the Guitar Center that had it the next day. The amp was only traded in the previous day and wasn't even displayed yet. I was surprised to see it, because it's still in perfect condition. I only sat down to play with it for the 10 minutes I was there and immediately bought it, brought it home, and annoyed the heck out of my parents the rest of the evening.

Here's a personal tour of my latest home setup, including insight on why I chose the gear pieces I did and how they work for me. Though I'm often working on the go with my mobile rig (see my "Inside Atlantic Records pt.2") it's really great to come back to homebase and let the creative energies flow.

This is a workshop on the Temporal Single System Interpretation (TSSI) of Marx's value theory. It was recorded in November of 2009 at the Rethinking Marxism conference in Amherst Mass. This is a workshop on the Temporal Single System Interpretation (TSSI) of Marx's value theory. It was recorded in November of 2009 at the Rethinking Marxism conference in Amherst Mass. The presenters are Andrew Kliman and Alan Freeman, two of the leading figures in the TSSI. The TSSI aims to show that by viewing Marx's value theory through a temporal lens the claims by Marx's opponents that his value theory is inconsistent are refuted. The fuzzy and quieter ones belong to Jesus Culture. just go to www.ibethel.tv to see :) they'll be taking down Encounter in about a week or so. This was an amazing experience, and as you can see there were about 3000 teens, some at the convention center and others at Bethel church. It doesn't seem to work well on recorded video (EDIT: It has more to do with the fact that it's a lot harder to determine the virtual position if the sounds are the same) and the depth is not as big as you'd want to, but it still is definitely worth turning on, you can hear an uncloaking spy's location very well, especially compared to plain stereo output. However, it's still not as good as a well set up surround sound setup while sitting in the sweet spot, though more enveloping than a badly set up and/or cheep surround sound setup or an average pair of surround sound headphones. Nevertheless, identifying where a spy uncloaked would be easier with said average pair since instead of analysing the sound, you'd analyse from which speaker the uncloaking sound is coming from. Of course, there are advantages to Dolby Headphone over a pair of surround sound headphones, namely price and sound quality. Therefore, if you have the option to turn on Dolby Headphone, do so if you prefer sound quality over the surround sound effect it self or are budget conscious.
