Ladda Tammy Duckworth (born 1968) is the former Assistant Secretary for Public and Intergovernmental Affairs in the United States Department of Veterans Affairs[1][2][3][4] and the director of the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs.[5][6] Duckworth is an Iraq War veteran and former US Army helicopter pilot whose severe combat wounds cost her both of her legs and damaged her right arm. She continues to serve as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Illinois Army National Guard along with her husband, Major Bryan W.
